⌛ #ThrowBackTime – The Berlinale Project

The Berlinale Film Festival, which had been on hiatus for a couple of years, finally made a return in 2023, drawing cinema stars, enthusiasts, and fans to Berlin to showcase and watch independent films from around the world.

Did you know that nanocosmos collaborated with the festival ten years ago?

In 2013, the Berlinale team was faced with the challenge of managing different video formats that were still being delivered on tape. Seeking a standardized digital playout solution for all cinemas, they approached us to work closely with the festival team to develop a simple playback format that could be standardized across all cinemas.

However, the project was not without its hurdles. When we thought everything was set and going to run smooth we received alerts indicating that the audio and video were out of sync, prompting the need for an emergency patch to the system. Our team worked tirelessly to solve the driver issues and hardware combination problems, eventually resolving them just in time for the festival!

The experience proved to be a valuable lesson for our team, teaching us about the importance of creating stable systems that could operate around the clock, meeting customers’ needs, and maintaining consistency and reliability. These insights have been crucial to our company’s growth and success, continuing to serve as the foundations for our business today.
